YottaDB r1.00 Released
YottaDB is an application development platform for NoSQL database applications that are required to scale up to the throughput and robustness expected of enterprise-scale applications. At the same time, its footprint allows it to scale down to the confines of embedded devices.
Built on the proven FIS GT.M code base by experienced former GT.M developers, and released under the same license, each YottaDB release is built on a GT.M version, and is designed to be 100% upward compatible with that GT.M version (the intrinsic special variable $zversion of each YottaDB release is the same as that of the GT.M version it us built on; the intrinsic special variable $zyrelease identifies the YottaDB release). We also intend to continue the GT.M tradition of going the extra mile to provide 100% upward compatibility of each YottaDB release with its predecessor, by enhancing the software so as to avoid regressions, and introducing regressions only in those very rare circumstances when a regression is unavoidable (by their nature, bugs and fixes are regressions).
This goal of this first release of YottaDB is to validate our development processes outside the FIS GT.M development environment. As such the enhancements are few. Details are in the release notes and software for 64-bit Linux systems is available here – please do try it and tell us what you think.
While retaining upward compatibility with GT.M, we plan to take YottaDB in new directions and serve new applications.
Please reach out via our Contact Us page with any questions, and I will attempt to answer them as best I can. Please do try YottaDB and tell us what you think. Thank you.
